Pee Dee Scholars Program -- Free Laptop

The Pee Dee Scholars scholarships target students studying for an Associate in Science degree. The unique scholarship and associated benefits will help students stay on track and complete their degree. Scholarship will also assist you with transfer to and tuition coverage at Coker University. The loan-to-own laptop computer feature of this scholarship program is resulting in higher enrollments and more full-time students in the target major.

Tech Stars Scholarship Program is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation to Florence-Darlington Technical College DUE # 2130351. The award is for students enrolled in the curriculum full-time seeking an associate degree in Associate Degree in Science (AAS). {Nursing and Allied Health excluded}

Eligibility Requirements
- Demonstrated Associate of Science(s) and Math majors-possibly on track to transfer to Coker University-Scholarship support will continue at Coker University through graduation.
- U.S Citizen or permanent resident of U.S.
- A 3.0 Cumulative GPA
- Enrolled full time
- Demonstrated Financial Need, Which is Determined by the Federal FAFSA Application
- Completion of All of the Prerequisite Courses for their degree program
Awarded Students' Rewards
- Remaining Tuition Balance Following Your FAFSA Award and all other applicable financial aid payments.
- Tuition coverage should you transfer to Coker University to complete (4) year degree
- Books and Supplies each semester while enrolled
- Loan-to-own Laptop Computer and Wireless Internet hotspot device
- Faculty Mentoring, Career and research experiences

Additional Information:

Pee Dee Scholars agree to:

Attend the Pee Dee Scholars orientation
Meet with faculty advisor and mentors each semester
Use tutoring services or work with a mentor weekly if recommended by faculty member or if on probation.
Maintain a 3.0 GPA (or regain a 3.0 GPA following a one semester probationary period if GPA has dipped below 3.0.)
Enroll in courses as outlined for major
Be prepared to attend at least one summer semester

Loan-to-Own Laptop:

Pee Dee Scholars completing one or more semesters at FDTC in a designated Associate of Science degree program with a 3.0 or greater GPA are eligible to participate.
Pee Dee Scholars must agree to the terms of loan laptop computer.
Pee Dee Scholars use "loaned" laptop computers while students. Ownership becomes possible with graduation. (Completion of Associate Degree)
